We were so, so delighted to shoot Ashley + Brian’s engagement photos in Brooklyn, NY. As with many of our clients, we didn’t meet face-to-face until the day of their shoot, but I could tell from my e-mail correspondence with Ashley that we would hit it off with she + Brian. We were instantly comfortable, and they were a blast to photograph – super sweet, fun, and totally in love. The Brownstones and Prospect Park were the perfect backdrop to showcase these two love birds.
If you’re into the music scene, you may recognize Brian from his band The Lone Bellow. They’ve been seen on/in The New York Times, Conan O’Brien, and most recently The Tonight Show. Our friends in Nashville say The Lone Bellow is “the next big thing”, and we couldn’t be happier for them!
The extra sweet cherry on top of this shoot was having personal stylist Hilary Rushford do the styling for Ashley + Brian. I know I sometimes stand in my closet, jaw gaped, blank stare, trying to decide on an outfit to wear for editing in my dark cave where no one will even see me. Then I think of our clients choosing an outfit for engagement photos…photos that will only live forever….no pressure, right? :) That can be a bit stressful. Hilary helped Ashley solidify a look and outfits in the month leading up to the shoot. I must say they landed on some serious cuteness. And it’s my understanding they didn’t purchase ONE new item. Gotta love that, right? Ladies, I highly recommend a Skype date with Hilary if you’re stumped by what to wear for engagement photos, or even your wedding day. I’m always inspired by passion and manifesto: “Creating providence” – her term for making space for God to move; clearing the path so you’re present when a door swings open. We just love that! Living as your best self and not playing it safe.
